October 24-28

Hello, everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Just a quick update about our awesome second grade; we just started our new math unit, which will focus on time and temperature. We are learning how to read a clock to the five-minute increments. Any practice your child could get at home would be very helpful! This is a new concept for almost everyone, and it can be frustrating.

We're still moving right along with our Saxon Phonics, and appreciate your diligence in helping with homework every night.

Our rocket math (math facts) program is going pretty well. These are the half-sheet of papers that go home for homework most nights. Occassionaly I will have a meeting during our prep-time, or a parent volunteer is unable to come, so they don't get corrected in time to go home at night. But most of the time they should be finishing these papers and bringing them back the next day in their homework folder.

I want to thank all of the parents who come in and volunteer their time. I really couldn't do it without all of you! THANKS!

Thanks for all you do to help your child succeed in school! I have the best parents and the best kids!

Spelling Words October 10-14

I apologize that I'm getting these posted so late, but here is the regular spelling list as well as the challenge list for this week. If your child got 100% on their pre-test, they will study the challenge list. Everyone will take the regular spelling test too, so I sent home copies of  the challenge words as well as the regular words this week.

We will have our first Reading Counts Assembly tomorrow at 2:15. Students will receive a certificate when they earn 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1000 points in the Reading Counts program. If you can make it to the assemblies, your kids would love to see you!
